Hatuey Project Press Conference
In late August, activists with the Hatuey Project arrived in Cuba with $20,000 worth of medical supplies designated for victims of the tragic fire at the Matanzas oil storage facility. Two of them, Gloria LaRiva and Dr. Leni Villagómez Reeves, held a press conference for Cuban journalists before delivering the supplies.

Let Cuba Live! rally at the office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Cuba solidarity activists showed up outside Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s office in downtown San Francisco, urging her to add her name to those of her 114 colleagues who recently signed a letter urging a removal of many of the hostile U.S. actions against Cuba. Speakers from the Bay Area Saving Lives Campaign, the ANSWER Coalition, Democratic Socialists of America, CodePink, Veterans for Peace, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and of course the Cuba and Venezuela Solidarity Committee spoke. The A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition, of which the Cuba and Venezuela Solidarity Committee is a part, along with the Party for Socialism and Liberation and many other groups, organized more than a dozen demonstrations in cities across the United States in solidarity with President Maduro and the Bolivarian Revolution, and against the ongoing U.S. coup attempt. This video gives a sampling of those efforts, which will continue until the coup is firmly defeated.

In Cuba in January 2019, a Freedom Caravan of Rebel Army combatants commemorated the entry into Havana of Fidel and the rebel army on Jan. 8, 1959, cementing the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Gloria La Riva was there and interviewed some of the participants in the caravan.

Nov/Dec, 2016: Gloria La Riva visited Havana during the Nine Days of National Mourning that followed the death of Fidel Castro. During her visit she spoke with this man, who paid homage to Fidel.
Oct. 26, 2016: Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla speaks at the United Nations, just prior to the historic vote on the resolution condemning the U.S. blockade of Cuba. The resolution passed for the 25th consecutive year, but for the first time, there was no opposition, as the U.S. and its loyal ally Israel were forced by the weight of world opinion to abstain. Rodríguez welcomes the abstention, and the positive changes that have occurred in the U.S.-Cuba relationship, but makes clear that the blockade is still very much in effect and still impacting the Cuban people. He also makes clear Cuba’s opposition to continuing efforts at subverting the Cuban Revolution. An important speech, worth listening to. This is the simultaneous translation to English provided by the U.N.
Jan. 16, 2016: In Nov. 2015, Kenia Serrano Puig, the President of Cuba’s Institute for Friendship with the People’s (ICAP) and a member of Cuba’s National Assembly, along with Leima Martínez from the North American division of ICAP, conducted a speaking tour of the United States. In this presentation, Kenia and Leima discuss a wide variety of subjects relating to Cuba, including ongoing economic changes in Cuba, the Cuban Five, what Obama can do right now to ease the blockade on Cuba, and more.
