While the U.S. (via the IMF) denies a $5 billion emergency loan to Venezuela to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and tightens sanctions on Iran, the corporate media does its best to rally Americans behind the cruel, inhumane, and illegal policies of the U.S. government.

Journalist Max Blumenthal was arrested on October 25 and charged with “assault” in a political case that he says is “completely false” and “manufactured” by Venezuela opposition supporters.

Gloria La Riva interviewed Rafael Argotti, a university professor and member of the Bolivarian Movement of Engineers and Technologists, in Caracas on March 9 during the second blackout. Despite the massive blackout, tens of thousands of Venezuelans continue to mobilize. Video in Spanish with English subtitles.

In an interview with AP on Feb. 14, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro talks (in Spanish) about the phony U.S. offer of “humanitarian aid”. The interview was aired on Venezuela’s VTV channel. A partial transcript accompanies the video.

50 countries came together at the United Nations in defense of Venezuela based on the principles of the UN Charter – including respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination, the sovereignty of UN member nations, refraining from the threat of use of force, respect for the territorial integrity of other states, and non-intervention in internal, domestic matters of another state.

The San Francisco Labor Council voted to denounce U.S. intervention and the attempted coup in Venezuela, and to endorse Feb. 23, March 9, and March 31 Bay Area actions against intervention, as well as the March 16 National March on the White House.

The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns the escalation of pressures and actions by the U.S. government in preparation for a military adventure under the guise of a “humanitarian intervention” in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and calls on the international community to mobilize in order to prevent its consummation.
