Oct. 26, 2016: Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla speaks at the United Nations, just prior to the historic vote on the resolution condemning the U.S. blockade of Cuba. The resolution passed for the 25th consecutive year, but for the first time, there was no opposition, as the U.S. and its loyal ally Israel were forced by the weight of world opinion to abstain. Rodríguez welcomes the abstention, and the positive changes that have occurred in the U.S.-Cuba relationship, but makes clear that the blockade is still very much in effect and still impacting the Cuban people. He also makes clear Cuba’s opposition to continuing efforts at subverting the Cuban Revolution. An important speech, worth listening to.
