The majority of Cubans who live in the United States were born in Cuba. The majority does not support the right-wing’s policy of hostility against the Cuban people.

This aggressive relic of the Cold War remains in force today, despite being condemned every year at the UN by the international community, even after Havana and Washington opened a new chapter in their bilateral relations December 17, 2014.

Internationalist medical aid has been a longstanding part of the Cuban people’s tradition of solidarity, since the beginning of the Revolution. As early as 1960 a brigade was sent to Chile following an earthquake there, and to Algeria in 1963, to support the new country recently liberated from colonialism.

Kenia Serrano and Leima Martínez express their thanks to the solidarity movement for the wonderful reception they received as they toured the United States earlier this month.

The Ministry of Foreign Relations reiterates once again that the “wet foot-dry foot” policy and the “Cuban Medical Professional Parole Program” are inconsistent with the current bilateral context, impede the normalization of migratory relations between Cuba and the United States, and create problems for other countries.
